Almost anyone can benefit from orthodontic care, however, some people are reluctant to sport the look of braces. Luckily, Invisalign gives you the results of traditional braces without the hassle of metal brackets or wires. Learn more about Invisalign, how it works, and what it can mean for your smile by reading below, and for personal treatment, contact Dr. Jeffrey Onik and Dr. Connie Onik at Willow Ridge Dental Group in Naperville, IL!
How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign uses clear plastic aligner trays to place steady pressure onto the teeth at predetermined areas. This pressure moves the teeth into their corrected positions and realigns the bite to give patients a functional, beautiful smile. The process takes about a year, during which patients wear each tray in the series for about two weeks before swapping it out for the next aligner.
What can I expect from Invisalign treatment?
Invisalign treatment is simple—just wear each tray for two weeks before replacing it with the next tray in the series. Remove the trays at meal times, as well as during your daily oral care routine. Patients should wear the aligner trays about 22 hours a day to ensure that treatment goes according to plan. Some patients may need small, tooth-colored bumps placed onto certain teeth. These bumps help your aligner trays better move teeth along their route.
How do I care for my Invisalign trays?
Always remove your trays before eating or brushing and flossing. Give the trays a quick rinse with water after removing them and before reinserting them to keep them clean—that’s it! Caring for your trays adds only a few seconds to your oral care routine and allows you to straighten your smile in the simplest way possible.
